TILDEN — Two 3-2 results and two victories for Tilden was the result of an amateur Chippewa River Baseball League doubleheader Sunday against Beef River.
The Tigers got a pair of complete game victories from their pitchers, including seeing Todd Bresina throw for nine innings in the second game.
Bresina scattered five Beef River hits in the nightcap, walked one Bullfrog and struck out 13.
Travis Fisher took the loss for Beef River in the second game. He allowed Tyler Berg to hit a double and Berg eventually scored after a sacrifice and Mitch Steinmetz’s RBI single.
Brian Ross threw the first eight innings for Beef River (6-5 CRBL).
Berg finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Steinmetz was 2-for-3. Chris Scheidler added two hits.
Rob Ribicki knocked in both of Beef River’s runs.
The Tigers (9-2 CRBL) took advantage of six walks from Zac Lasher and the three hits to earn the 3-2 victory. Andrew Ruf threw the complete game for Tilden.
Ruf scattered four hits and walked one. He struck out five. Lasher had three strikeouts and allowed three hits.
Jay Heber was 2-for-3 with a double for Beef River while Chris Scheidler scored two of Tilden’s three runs.
Chippewa Falls 6-4,
Whitehall 1-0
At Whitehall, the Lumberjacks got solid pitching performances in both games to earn the sweep of the Wolves.
Jeff Dykes threw the complete game in the opener for Chippewa Falls (9-4 CRBL). He allowed four hits and walked two while striking out five. Scott Hovell took the complete game loss for Whitehall (4-10 CRBL). Only one of the six runs he allowed were earned.
Tyler Gray threw the complete game shutout in the nightcap for Chippewa Falls. He scattered four hits and didn’t walk a batter while striking out one. Tyler Manley took the loss as he allowed six hits and 10 walks.
Sunday also marked the league debut of Emery Hull, who played high school baseball for Chippewa Falls and is a former member of American Legion Post 77’s team. In his first at-bat, Hull hit a home run and finished 2-for-2 in the second game.
Andy Niese and Kurt Roubal each hit doubles for the Lumberjacks in the opening game.
