The 2nd Annual Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony Concerto Competition finals brought five talented members of the Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony to Gantner Hall on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Charis Wong, a foreign exchange student from Hong Kong attending Chippewa Falls Senior High School, took second place.
Student musicians from the youth symphony qualified for the finals by submitting a recording of a musical piece. A panel of judges anonymously reviewed each of the recordings.
The top five musicians performed live in the finals with judges present. The five finalists in the competition were Cole Hanson, Olivia Langby, Wesley Peterson, Victoria Shoemaker and Wong. The top three finalists received cash prizes.
The auditioned group is made up of more than 65 7th- through 12th-grade musicians from the broader Chippewa Valley area.
