Diavola L. Aude-Lemon, 96, Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009 at Comforts of Home in Chippewa Falls.
She was born June 23, 1912 in Frederic to Marie (Lundgreen) and Clinton Burgess. She graduated in 1940 from nurses training. She worked at hospitals in Pisgah and Plum City.
Diavola married Fred Aude in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1977.
She then married Franklin Lemon on April 22, 1990. She and Franklin had a “business” of collecting clothing and other supplies for distribution to anyone in need. Over the years, they helped many local people, as well as shipping supplies internationally.
They also had quite a flower garden, in which they delivered their beautiful bouquets to their bank, local doctors’ offices, nursing homes and various other businesses. Franklin preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 2006.
Survivors include: two daughters, Viola (James) Keith of Chippewa Falls, Nila Coelho of Nevada City, Calif.; one son, Vern (Karen) Lemon of Collegedale, Tenn.; a sister, Delores Cruzen of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a brother, Dale Burgess of Oregon; a sister-in-law, Wanda Burgess of Oregon; 19 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters, Leta Brandemil and Lucille Kline; and a brother, Lyle Burgess.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tom Lemon officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6 and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be deisgnated to the organization of the donor’s choice.
