Sheriff

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department responded to the following calls:

Saturday, Dec. 27

12:00 a.m. Kwik Trip, 2997 Commercial Boulevard, reported a $40 gas drive-off.

12:10 p.m. A caller reported a sexual assault that occurred early in the morning near Holcombe High School.

5:15 p.m. A caller at 4657 County M, New Auburn, reported the theft of money and prescription medications from the residence.

10:45 p.m. A caller reported a Ford truck traveling on three wheels at  20877 County O. Terry L. Larson, 55, was arrested for OWI at 88th Avenue and County XX.

Sunday, Dec. 28

2:22 a.m. A caller reported a dark colored Jeep Cherokee checking  mailboxes in the area of County XX and 67th Ave., Cadott.

3:01 a.m. River Country Plaza, 641 S. Highway 27, Cadott, reported a fight in progress in the parking lot.

8:10 a.m. A deputy arrested James Lee Muska, 23, for OWI on 100th Avenue.

2:21 p.m. Timothy E. Schruth, 21127 245th Ave., reported a break-in to a cabin at that address.

 

Police

The Chippewa Falls Police Department responded to the following calls:

Sunday, Dec. 28

10:46 a.m. A caller reported possible gunshots near 623 Pumphouse road at 10:20 p.m. the previous night. A vehicle went by slowly, then turned around and took off fast. The residence appeared undamaged.

5:24 p.m. A caller reported seeing several black males attacking a person and dragging him into an apartment at 625 Dutchman Drive. An officer was unable to locate any problem.

8:25 p.m. Louann Denning reported the theft of $200 from her room at Comforts of Home, 1212 Pumphouse Road, since Dec. 25.

Monday, Dec. 29

2:14 a.m. An officer arrested Max D. Klinger, 20, for OWI on Beaver Street.

 

Accidents

Monday, Dec. 22

9:03 a.m. Troy R. Story, 40, 24361 County E, Cornell, was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 truck northbound in the left lane on High Street when he struck a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by Lavern A. Jensen, 75, 321 Bates St., Cornell. Jensen had been northbound on High Street in the right lane and attempted to make a left turn onto Grand Avenue in front of Story’s vehicle. After being struck, Jensen’s vehicle then ran into the Badger Family Dental Health building on the corner. Jensen suffered minor injury. His vehicle sustained severe damage. The building sustained some structural damage. Story’s vehicle sustained moderate damage. Jensen was cited for failure to yield while making an unlawful left turn.

Tuesday, Dec. 23

9:33 a.m. Kurt E.  Nelson, 44, 620 W. Central St., was driving a Chippewa yellow Bus Company school bus that had just dropped off children at the theater when he stopped for a stop light on Woodward Avenue at Prairie View Road and was struck in the rear by a 2004 Buick LeSabre driven by Mylon J. Hebert, 79, 834 W. Spruce St., Chippewa Falls. Hebert was unable to stop due to slippery conditions. He was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Hebert’s vehicle sustained  moderate damage.

Wednesday, Dec. 24

3:48 p.m. Craig J. Thornton, 34, 425 Pumphouse Road, was driving a 2005 Ford F-150 truck westbound on Grand Ave. when he entered the intersection at Bay Street and was struck by a southbound 1998 Nissan pickup driven by Matthew C. G. Neitge, 21, 18677 51st Ave., Chippewa Falls. Thornton’s vehicle then spun around and struck a 1999 Dodge intrepid driven by Julie M. Huffcutt, 44, West St. Paul, Minn., who was stopped on Grand Avenue  facing east. The vehicles sustained moderate to severe damage. Thornton was cited for violation of a traffic control signal.
