School board chooses consultant firm for superintendent search

The Chippewa Falls School Board chose Fox River Consultants, Inc. out of Packwaukee to assist in the district’s superintendent search.

Fox River Consultants is the same group which was used in the district’s 2003 search.

Superintendent Mike Schoch announced mid-November that he would be retiring at the end of the school year.

The board will meet with Fox River Consultants in early January to schedule the rest of the process, and Schoch said the job should be posted before Christmas.

" If the School Board feels they are unable to select someone qualified to fill this position maybe they are not qualified to be a board member. This is a waste of the tax payers money. What a joke. "

" Agree with RAJ, that in this severe recession that taxpayer dollars need to be spent to do the job they are already supposed to do! And in the end, they will hire someone that is a couple of years from retirement again... further adding to the tax burden of citizens because they will also get an early retirement, medical care for life and a big fat pension. "

" I find it peculiar that in this time of severe dollar devaluation that it's necessary to hire a search firm to hire for this position. Government work at its finest, right?! This is the same government that told our automakers to decrease their labor spend before we bail them out. I believe the request was for the unions to make some concessions (meaning reduce labor expense). And then, our own teacher's union does something like this - they hire a search firm (a middleman) to find a replacement. Is it absurd to believe the old fashioned way of posting the position won't yield a decent number of qualified candidates? Or, is it easier to pay the middleman $10K minimum to do the search, thereby effectively increasing the labor spend. Wait until you see the salary, taxpayers! Unbelievable. "
