On Oct. 26, a city officer saw Lloyd get out of a vehicle that had been westbound on Park Avenue at the Main Street intersection, approach a pedestrian and strike him with a fist. Durand man charged with assaulting hunter
A Durand man is facing a felony charge for allegedly assaulting a hunter he believed to be trespassing on a private road.
Ronald W. Larson, 59, W2039 County FF, was charged Dec. 8 with substantial battery and disorderly conduct. According to the criminal complaint:
Brandon Wilson told authorities that on Oct. 25 he was bow hunting on a friend’s land with permission and was parked on land belonging to his cousin, with both pieces of land accessed by an easement road off County Q. As he was walking out of the woods Larson confronted him and asked him who had given him written permission, told him he was under citizen’s arrest and tried to confiscate his bow.
Both men were holding the bow when Larson used a free hand to strike Wilson in the side of the face with a flashlight. Wilson suffered serious injuries, with multiple fractures to facial bones and was treated at Bloomer hospital.
Larson told an investigating officer that Wilson struck him first, denied hitting with a flashlight and said the injuries were the result of Wilson striking his head on a pickup tailgate when Larson pushed him away. There was, however, a witness to the incident and the officer arrested Larson.
