Festival of Bells planned at Grace Lutheran

For the Herald

Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave., Eau Claire, will present its annual Christmas concert, Festival of Bells/By Heaven’s Light, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 and at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14.

Starting with the traditional Ukrainian Bell carol performed by hand bells and voices we offer the season’s greetings in song. The first section will include young children, two hand bell choirs, chimers, and the Glory Sounds, a contemporary vocal ensemble.

The second half of our concert will feature the special Christmas cantata By Heaven’s Light by Tom Long and Allen Pote. Performers will include the adult choirs, high school and middle school choir, and the elementary choir.

Traditional carols, original music, lyrics, and scripture from the gospels of Luke and Matthew are all used to tell the Christmas story. Candles and “actor tableaux” will be used to embellish the performance along with an orchestral accompaniment arranged by Joel Raney.

Bring your bells to join in.

There will be a free will offering.
