Man kills self after alleged rape

A Cadott man with a history of violent sexual assault was found dead in a rural Cadott residence, while his most recent reported victim was bound in an apartment in Marshfield.

Jason Felce, 36, was found dead Tuesday in the basement of a residence he shared with his parents. Felce is believed to have sexually assaulted a woman in Marshfield before returning home and shooting himself to death.

According to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department and the Marshfield Police Department:

At 10:54 a.m. Tuesday the Chippewa County dispatch center received a 911 call, with an unidentified man telling of a Marshfield residence where “my girlfriend is in the apartment tied up alive, and the baby is okay.”

The caller hung up, but the cell call had already been tracked to an area near Cadott.

Around the same time, dispatchers in Wood County got a call from someone in Marshfield saying a woman next door was crying for help from her apartment.

According to sheriff’s officials, Marshfield police went to the home and found a 25-year-old woman who indicated she had been bound to her bed and sexually assaulted at gunpoint by Jason Felce. Her six-month-old child was in the apartment and was unhurt.

Marshfield Police Chief Joe Stroik told the Marshfield News-Herald that investigators are still trying to determine how long the woman was held against her will, but that it “sounds like it was an extensive amount of time.”

The woman, who was responsive when she was found and was treated for injuries at a hospital, apparently was restrained for several hours.

The woman said Felce told her he was going to Cadott to kill himself at his parents’ home.

As officers were preparing to enter the Cadott home, a neighbor called shortly after noon and said Felce was dead in the basement.

If the initial reports from Marshfield are correct, it would not have been the first time that Felce had committed a sexual assault at gunpoint.

On March 31, 1997, he was charged with first degree sexual assault with use of a dangerous weapon, armed burglary, false imprisonment, and endangering safety by pointing a firearm from an incident that happened just the day before.

His then-girlfriend had reported that Felce entered her residence with a 9 mm handgun, forced her to disrobe and raped her while holding the gun to her head.

On the sexual assault charge, Felce was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with the sentence imposed and stayed, and, apparently from computer records, never imposed.

He was also placed on probation for 15 years on the armed burglary charge, but the probation was revoked and he was sentenced to three years in prison on the charge in April 1998. By 2002, he was released.

" The pain he caused, the lives he messed with...all because he was a sick individual. His baby daughter will never remember what happen that day, thank God! But, the woman he attacked will never forget! I feel sorry for his family, they are good people, they didn't deserve to have to go through any of this. "

" I agree with RAJ. This man should not have been free to attack again. 3 years in prison for violent rape? That is rediculous. "

" I'm sorry to hear this happened, but if this story is correct, the world is a better place without this guy. "
