Sheriff: Cadott man accused of assault, found dead

A 36-year-old Cadott man is believed to have sexually assaulted a woman in Marshfield and then went home and shot himself to death.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office said a 911 call came in Tuesday morning from a male caller saying there was a woman at the Marshfield address who could not move and had a baby with her. The caller hung up, but the cell call had already been tracked to an area near Cadott.

Around the same time, dispatchers in Wood County got a call from someone in Marshfield saying a woman next door was crying for help from her apartment.

According to sheriff’s officials, Marshfield police went to the home and found a 25-year-old woman who indicated she had been bound and sexually assaulted at gunpoint by Jason Felce. Her baby was in the apartment and was unhurt.

The woman said Felce told her he was going to Cadott to kill himself at his parents’ home where he also lived.

As officers were preparing to enter the Cadott home, a neighbor called shortly after noon and said Felce was dead in the basement.

" Owen-Withee: I agree with all of you. My only comment is that all of Wisconsin, Not just Chippewa County needs to get tougher laws and enforce them as they should be or this kind of garbage will continue to happen. This man should haves been in prison for 15 years and this would not have happened. Thank God he did not kill the woman or the baby. In some cases I even could agree with the death penalty in Wisconsin. "

" Probably not until one of their loved ones gets assaulted and hurt. Chippewa Falls Justice system is a complete joke. Wake up people. "

" idowonder, I agree totally. The good news in this case is that there is an outstanding resolution that won't cost the taxpayers any money in court costs. When are our judges and social workers going to realize that these violent sex offenders need to be permanently imprisoned? "

" As I see this, Felce was found GUILTY on two class "B" felony charges case 1997CF71. The punishment is a maximum of 60 years in prison each.
He was given only 15 years prison stayed. (stayed is he will serve the time if revoked from probation) IF the Judge and DA would have given the 15 years he still would have been in prison!
But that did not happen.
in April of 2002 he was revoked from probation but he was given only THREE years and not the 15 that was imposed and stayed. WHY?
Many bad things have happened to people, that could have or should have been prevented.

WE NEED JUSTICE IN CHIPPEWA COUNTY "
