EAU CLAIRE — An Eau Claire bowhunter has bagged a whitetailed deer that is getting attention as a record-setter.
Bob Decker was hunting Saturday in Buffalo County and shot the big buck at midmorning as it walked toward his tree stand.
Eau Claire taxidermist Jack Dodge says he saw the buck and it has 14 points and two stickers.
Dodge — a taxidermist for 30 years — says it’s too early to say if the deer is a record but he describes it as a phenomenal animal.
There has been publicity about a very large buck in Buffalo County, including a video that was posted on the Web site of Field and Stream in recent weeks.
