The student ambassadors of the Chippewa Area Catholic Schools have embraced the school’s 2008-2009 school year theme of “Partners in Faith: First You, Then Me” with numerous service opportunities within their schools and throughout the Chippewa Falls community. Six students have been recognized with the first quarter’s “Partners in Faith: First You, Then Me” awards. The awards are given to the student ambassadors who have exemplified the consistent desire to serve others in the many projects and events available in the program.
In the spirit of service, compassion and generosity, they have donated their time in many capacities. They have served as hosts for many gatherings at the schools. Most of them participated in raking leaves for the elderly. They planned and carried out a “Baby Shower for Mary” to collect donations for new moms and babies in our community. They have mentored new students and helped serve meals for the school’s Spaghetti Spectacular.
The first quarter’s award winners are:
n Seventh-grader Tommy Rocque, the son of Sally Rocque and the late Jim Rocque.
n Seventh-grader Justin Ignarski, the son of Jim & Marge Ignarski and Tami Ignarski.
n Seventh-grader Zach Meinholz, the son of Marge and Jim Ignarski and Andy Meinholz.
n Eighth-grader Shannon Globensky, the daughter of Dan and Ann Globensky.
n Sophomore Angie Reiter, daughter of Tony and Susan Reiter.
n Junior Ali Ebben, the daughter of Paul and Pam Ebben.
The ambassador program has been in existence since the 2005-2006 school year. It was developed to provide service opportunities and training in areas of leadership, hospitality, mentoring and team-building. This school year’s theme reinforces the program’s mission of serving others first and in turn growing in personal development.
Other service projects include raking leaves for the elderly, preparing and serving a meal at the Agnes Table, ringing bells for the Salvation Army, assisting with downtown Christmas parade, writing Christmas cards, Christmas caroling in nursing homes with the Oktoberfest group, mentoring students and greeting visitors to the schools for various events. Last school year, they logged over 1,100 hours of time.
