Lake Hallie police chief to retire

The Village of Lake Hallie chief of police plans to retire effective in January.

Village President Pete Lehmann confirmed that Chief Gale Haas has announced his retirement, but would make no more comment about the chief’s retirement.

According to the village’s Web site, Haas has been with the police department for 30 years.

Haas could not be reached for comment Friday.

The village’s police commission has scheduled a special meeting to discuss posting the police chief position and an interim police chief, according to its agenda.

The meeting is set for 5 p.m. Monday at the Village Hall, 13033 30th Ave.
