Cornell Care Center to hold open house

Cornell Area Care Center, 320 N. 7th Street In Cornell will hold an open house Nov. 20th from 4 -7 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the newly-constructed therapy addition.

A ribbon cutting ceremony with the Chippewa Falls Chamber Ambassadors will be held at the new entrance to the therapy addition at 4 p.m. An open house will follow.

Tours will be available of the newly renovated facility and the new 3,000 square foot therapy addition. Features of the new therapy addition include a large gym area which will include new equipment. The therapy addition also features two private treatment rooms, and a complete kitchen with appliances for patients to practice kitchen and laundry skills prior to discharge home.

Rockwell named executive for Home Builders

Karen Rockwell was recently named the new Executive officer for the Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association.

Rockwell was previously the director of operations for the Minnesota Trucking Association (MTA), and had been with the MTA since 2001. Her background includes work with Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota and communications/marketing for a nonprofit performing arts theater in Wisconsin. Rockwell received her BA in Public Relations from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and a Master of Nonprofit Management from Hamline University.

Local photograph on AnchorBank calendar

Chippewa Falls resident Jim Mercier’s photograph of a barn and windmill in Chetek is featured on the September page of AnchorBank’s new 2009 calendar.

The photograph was selected from more than 500 entries submitted to the bank from across the state for its 90th Anniversary Calendar competition. AnchorBank branch manager Linda Burgess said the bank will give out more than 47,000 calendars, featuring Mercier’s photograph, to customers throughout Wisconsin.

AnchorBank launched the statewide calendar competition in August to celebrate its 90th year serving Wisconsin customers. The calendars are available for free at AnchorBank locations, while supplies last.

LarsonAllen adds tax principal

LarsonAllen has announced the addition of Cory Wiese as a principal in the tax department of its Eau Claire office.

Wiese comes with over 12 years experience serving clients. He has industry expertise in the areas of manufacturing, real estate, construction, trucking and auto dealerships. In addition, he has experience in complex partnership operations, multi-state income tax, cost segregation, and estate tax issues.

Wiese has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin — Eau Claire and a Certificate in State and Local Taxation from the University of Wisconsin — Milwaukee.
