For the Herald

The annual Pest Management Update meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the Eagle’s Club in Lake Hallie, beginning with registration at 9:30 a.m. and presentations at 10 a.m.

The meeting brings current crop pest management research and information to area farmers, consultants, agronomy dealers, commercial applicators, industry representatives, and crop contact agents.

Dr. Chris Boerboom and Dr. Mark Renz, UW-Madison/Extension Weed Scientists, Dr. Eileen Cullen, UW-Madison/Extension Field Crop Entomologist, and Dr. Paul Esker, UW-Madison/Extension Plant Pathologist, will speak about insect, weed, and disease challenges crop farmers faced during the 2008 growing season.

A $30 registration fee covers the cost of the informational packet and a noon meal. Additional packets are available for $15. Packets will contain the 2009 Pest Management in Wisconsin Field Crops bulletin, as well as other publications, research, and reference materials. Four hours of pest management CCA continuing education credits will be offered.

Pre-register by Nov. 10. A $5 charge will be assessed to all walk-ins. The Eagle’s Club is on Business Hwy. 53 South across from Farm and Fleet.
