Man beaten with beer bottle outside of bar

A Holcombe man was found bleeding outside a Chippewa Falls bar early Thursday morning after allegedly being beaten by two men.

Aaron T. Doane, 42, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls to receive stitches after he was hit over the head by a beer bottle.

Police were called outside of Burly’s Bar, 19 E. Canal St., at 2:13 a.m. The caller had seen Doane bleeding while the caller was waiting for a taxi cab outside the bar after it had closed for the night.

An officer who was in the area arrived on the scene. Doane said he was “jumped” by two males while attempting to get into his truck after leaving Dewey’s Road House, 1 E. Canal St.

The men are described as white males in their 30s. They were wearing dark clothing.

No arrests have been made in the case, and the Chippewa Falls Police Department is still investigating.

" This story shouldn't have even been written. The cowardice of two men attacking a drunk guy, that obviouisly doesn't know how to shut his piehole, with beer bottles is mildly news worthy. Had this been a one-on-one brawl, we wouldn't have heard a word about it.

The bars are as much at fault in this incident, as my pencil is in spelling errors. It's in the bars best interest to kick out a mouthy drunk. I for one HATE being around them, and will leave immediately. "

" css - the physical act did not happen in the bar, you are correct however, who fed him the excessive alcohol to get him to this drunken stuper.......A BARTENDER!
Bartenders need to cut people off when they feel they have had enough. If this means kicking them out and calling the police then so be it. The police need to respond because that is their job whether they are under staffed or not. Most times these people ARE breaking the law.....when they get in their car drunk! "

" Maybe you should call the police department and ask them how they would like it if they got called everytime someone was kicked out of a bar by a bartender, they would have to double the police force! "

" The police will not do anything unless they have broken a law or someone is pressing charges on them, if you don't believe me, call them and ask them. Have you taken bartending classes, or studied the laws? The bartender has the right to refuse service to anyone, and the way of doing that is to kick them out of the establishment. "

" To the bartenders of these establishments:

If you feel the need to "kick somebody out of your bar" you should be calling the police My point in this matter is when we have a person who is unruly, intoxicated, ect....kicking him/her out of your establishment could cause more harm to him/her self and others. The first choice should be the police, not kicking them out of the bar! "

" I saw him at Burly's about an hour before this happened. He was kicked out of there because he was so wasted when he got there that he was trying to start fights with other people as soon as he got there. Also, the man with the skull fracture that got punched the Saturday before didn't get punched on Canal street, so it happens other places too. You think the bar owners should take responsibilty; which one is responsible since it didn't happen inside a bar? Also, who other than Randy Lloyd is responsible for his actions? Which bar owner are you going to blame for what he did? "

" nothing good ever happens after 10PM unless of course you won the lottery. This stuff seems to mostly occur at the Canal street establishments.
I think the bar owners should take some accountability too. Many of them feed these people alcohol until they are in a drunken stuper rather than cutting them off. "

May I ask if you left before OR after the man in question? "

" I do not in any way condone these actions, however, if this man was actually going to get in his truck and drive, this was the best thing that could happen. I saw this man in the bar Wednesday night and he was in no shape to walk, let alone drive. Even if it had to be in such a violent way, its better to have him stopped than hurt or kill someone else while driving home. "

" Only half the story has been told here. And as usual the story reads bad for the local establishments. Keep in mind that even though the establishment names are listed that this did not happen inside, therefore not under the control of the staff.
On his own admission Mr. Doane also told the fine officers of Chippewa that he was "out of line". This does not justify someone getting whacked with a bottle.
After discussion with the Chief of Police Wayne Nehring for clarification the police are not looking for anyone to charge. "

" It looks like we will have to outlaw beer bottles. But then again, when beer bottles are outlawed only outlaws will have beer bottles!!!! "
