Jim Falls Sturgeon Festival starts Friday
By The Chippewa Herald
The traditional end of area festivals in the summer, the Sturgeon Festival, returns to Anson Park in Jim Falls Friday through Monday.
The 48th annual festival is sponsored by the Jim Falls Lions, and proceeds support Lions projects, including the Wisconsin Lions camp.
This year’s festival features demolition derbies on Friday, Sunday and Monday, and a truck pull on Saturday.
Another highlight will be a car show at the park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, featuring a race car Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove in 2004, and cars drawn in the animated movie “Cars.”
A fishing contest will be held from 9 a.m. Saturday through 1 p.m. Monday. Contest rules are posted at the park.
