For the Herald
The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony is seeking talented viola, French horn and bass players to participate in the youth symphony this upcoming season. The ideal student enjoys playing challenging music and performing with other young people.
Musicians interested in playing in the CVYS need to register now for an audition, on line at the Web site, www.cvyouthsymphony.org. Someone will contact you to set up an audition time. Rehearsals will begin in early September.
The Youth Symphony is an enrichment program offered to any 7th-12th grade musician in the Chippewa Valley, to provide an opportunity to enhance young musicians overall understanding of music and is designed to help them grow as performers.
Members of the youth symphony will work with Music Director Eugene Power and section leaders in both small and large group rehearsals on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m., culminating in a concert season of public performances in the Chippewa Valley.
For more information, call the CVYS office at (715) 955-4085 or e-mail your questions to: info@cvyouthsymphony.org.
The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony provides a unique opportunity for area youth to develop and showcase their artistry in the symphonic tradition and to enhance their lives and the cultural environment of the communities they live.
There is a participation fee of $85 per semester for each musician. This fee includes all music, rehearsals and performances. Need-based scholarships are available.
The Youth symphony enrichment experience is made possible through a partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension.
