Partners scholarship winners announced

For the Herald

The Partners of St. Joseph’s Hospital announced two new board members and scholarship winners at its annual meeting on July 16 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Joan Buell (treasurer) and Lori Julian (secretary) were sworn in for a two-year term.

Mary Lindquist (president), Joan Pehlke (vice president) and Marge Geissler (corresponding secretary) will continue in their current positions for one more year.

Treasurer Joann Buell presented a check to St. Joseph’s Hospital Administration, to pay for their first installment of a four-year commitment to the new Emergency Services area. The Partners also submitted a contribution to St. Joseph’s Hospital for the ongoing support of Lifeline, a personal emergency response system for the homebound.

Scholarships were presented by Scholarship Chairperson Judy Sires at the annual meeting. Scholarships, valued at $1,000 each, are made available from income from permanent endowments supplemented by Hospital Partners’ projects such as the annual steak fry and book sales.

Mersaides Schwartz of Cornell received the Frank Sorrentino Scholarship. Joan Foiles of Chippewa Falls received the Irene Casper Hebert Scholarship.

Recipients of Partners of St. Joseph’s Hospital Scholarships were Valerie Nelson of Chippewa Falls, Tami Langmeier of Eau Claire, Brittany McDaniel of Chippewa Falls and Wendy Meinen of Bloomer.
