Upcoming entertainment events




Following is a list of upcoming entertainment events in the Chippewa Valley.

- The International Native American Flute Association convention, July 9-13, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Haas Fine Arts Center. Vendor area (flutes, music, crafts) and evening performances are open to the public. Daily classes require convention registration. Evening performances: tickets $15 at the door. Each evening will feature 3 to 4 performers and will include the finest flute-related artists in the music industry: R. Carlos Nakai, Bill Miller, Kevin Locke, Joseph FireCrow, Sonny Nevaquaya, Michael Graham Allen (Coyote Oldman), Skip Healy (Irish flute), Autumn's Child, Xavier Quijas Yxayotl, The Peter Phippen Quartet (local artist), Frank Montano (Anakwad), and Scott August. - Four Shillings Short, 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, Heyde Center for the Arts, 3 S. High St., Chippewa Falls. With a decade of touring in the U.S. and Ireland under their belts, the husband and wife duo of Aodh O’Tuama from Cork, Ireland and Californian Christy Martin live as full-time minstrels in their trusty Dodge Caravan loaded with 30 instruments. Hear traditional Irish and Scottish songs, Indian ragas, folk ballads, old-time songs, a cappella numbers, Medieval and Renaissance instruments, and original compositions. - Musicians’ open stage for single or duo acts, 7 p.m. sign-up, Tuesday, June 24, James Sheeley House, 236 W. River St., Chippewa Falls. Free. Listeners welcome. Info: www.jeffwhitemusic.com

- Northern Wisconsin State Fair, July 9-13, fairgrounds, Chippewa Falls. Free grandstand entertainment with paid admission. Carnival rides, food, games, animals, daytime stage. Info: www.norwisstatefair.com.

- Chill on the Hill, to introduce kids 2-8 to culture, 11-11:45 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, Heyde Center for the Arts, 3 S. High St., Chippewa Falls. Featuring Yvette Flaten, reading and talking about poetry. Info: (715) 726-9000.

- Wednesday Night Concerts on the Hill, 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, Heyde Center for the Arts, 3 S. High St., Chippewa Falls. Admission $3 for adults, with children under 16 free with an adult. Featuring a showing of the documentary “Fair Is something you take a Pig to – the pains and pleasures of a small Wisconsin fair” by Chippewa Falls native Janice Durand. Info: (715) 726-9000.
