Who Makes Your Day?












Children's art series begins June 10




The Chippewa Valley Cultural Association is planning a variety of entertainment at the Heyde Center for the Arts in June. The center is at 3 S. High St., Chippewa Falls. The CVCA’s two summer series both begin next week.

Wednesday night concerts begin

The first of the Wednesday Night Concert Series is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11. Admission for all Wednesday Night Concerts is $3 for adults, with children under 16 free with an adult. of the musicians are either current students or graduates of the UW-EC music program.

June 11: Dan and Jacey Lea will perform mostly original songs with vocals, guitar and flute.

June 18: John Nielsen (12 and 6-string acoustic guitar and vocals) and Dave Alley (bass) in a folk, country and rock concert with a “guest mic” and a spare guitar for anyone who wants to join them on stage.

June 25: Showing of the documentary “Fair Is something you take a Pig to – the pains and pleasures of a small Wisconsin fair” by Chippewa Falls native Janice Durand.

July 16: Klenz/Walk Jazz Sextet, with Adrian Klenz and Jeff Walk play jazz standards and songs from the Frank Sinatra years. Most

Introducing children to arts and culture

Children 2-8 can experience a series of free, 45-minute presentations by area artists and performers who share their love of an instrument, a style of music, dance, and other types of artistic expression and/or cultural activity. Most of the presenters offer an opportunity for “hands-on” experiences.

The sessions are 11-11:45 a.m. Tuesdays, June 10-Aug. 19.

June 10: Greg Gilbertson, guitar.

June 17: Jim Radloff, Ragtime piano.

June 24: Yvette Flaten will read and talk about poetry.

July 1: Deborah Lang, dance.

July 8: The minstrel singers Four Shillings Short will be featured (they also appear at the Heyde Center in concert on Wednesday, July 9 at 7 p.m.

July 15: Noriko Slowinski, visual arts.

July 22: Susan Orfirld, sax.

Not your traditional watercolor workshop

Chetek painter Patricia Mayhew Hamm offers a three-day workshop for watercolor artists seeking to improve their skills. The class is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 26-28.

The class is $130 for three days.
