Darley, Schoch headed to Oshkosh as all-stars

They were on different teams from schools across the street.

This summer, they’re on the same team.

This weekend, they’ll continue to be on the same team, but with different teammates.

Mike Darley and Jon Schoch are participating in the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association’s All-Star Classic this weekend in Oshkosh at E.J. Schneider Field.

Darley was one of the best hitters for Chippewa Falls High School in the spring, as well as pitched for the Cardinals.

“It should be a lot of fun,” Darley said before playing for American Legion Post 77 Tuesday night. “I’ve played with a lot of them before.”

Darley played last fall on a team downstate with players from the Madison and Milwaukee areas. They’ll typically be on some of the other all-star teams.

Schoch and Darley were named to the North team, with players from around the state filling out rosters representing East, West and South.

Schoch was one of the top pitchers and hitters for McDonell this spring. The tall pitcher was named All-State by the WBCA this season.

Schoch was unavailable Tuesday as he was unable to play in Post 77’s game. He had a prior commitment.

Both players are headed to college to play baseball. Schoch signed to play next season with UW-Stevens Point while Darley will be a preferred walk-on at University of Minnesota-Duluth.
