Helen Kathleen Emerson

EAU CLAIRE — Helen Kathleen Emerson, 98, of 206 W. Yellow St., Cadott, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Luther hospital in Eau Claire.

Helen was born on Feb. 13, 1910, the daughter of Michael and Rose (Kosma) Deleshe in Chicago, Ill. She married Albert Willard Emerson on May 28, 1938, and they made their home in Cadott.

Helen was a talented artist and sculptor, sharing many of her paintings with her family and many people both inside and outside of the community. She enjoyed flower gardening and landscaped huge rock gardens around their home. Many of her flowers graced the altar at St. John’s Lutheran church where she was an active member. She was also an active member of the Ladies Aid.

She was active in the community as a Blue Bird leader, Cub Scout leader and participated in many school functions. She taught 17 years of cake decorating, ceramics and crocheting at the vocational school centers in Chippewa Falls, Cadott and Stanley.

She is survived by: sons, Richard (Patricia) Emerson of Seattle, Wash., Duane Emerson of Oceanside, Calif., Douglas (Sharon) Emerson of Marion, Iowa, Donald (Gail) Emerson of Charleston, S.C.; daughter Carolyn (Robert) Rinholen of Blairstown, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by: her husband; parents; six brothers; four sisters; and daughter-in-law Gail Emerson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25 at St. John’s Lutheran church in Cadott with Rev. Raymond Bell officiating. Interment will be in Brooklawn cemetery Cadott.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church.
