STANLEY — Cancer can throw families faster than an angry bucking bronc. So this weekend’s Stanley Rodeo celebration is determined to lasso help for people fighting breast cancer.
Proceeds from the sale of T-shirts with the slogan, “Tough enough to wear pink” will go toward former Green Bay Packers player LeRoy Butler’s foundation to fight breast cancer. And Butler will be on hand at the rodeo to autograph those T-shirts starting at 5 p.m. Friday.
The idea for the rodeo to get involved in the breast cancer fight came from Gary Tobin, the businesslink manager for Chilson’s Corner Motors in Cadott. His mother died of breast cancer and his sister has had to fight the disease, too.
Tobin said the dealership wanted to get involved and the rodeo, held in Stanley’s Chapman Park, did too.
Tobin, who lives in Greenville, Wis., near Appleton, is impressed by the volunteers at the Stanley Rodeo, which is formally known as at the 5th Annual Dodge PRCA Rodeo.
“I don’t think I’ve seen as many people dedicated as much as (they are) here,” he said.
The celebration lasts three days, with the rodeo at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The celebration continues into Sunday, with a parade at 12:30 p.m.
