Wood named CVN advertising manager

Michael Wood is the new advertising manager of Chippewa Valley Newspapers in Chippewa Falls.
Wood, 30, comes to the area from the Bismarck Tribune in Bismarck, North Dakota. Both properties are owned by Lee Enterprises, Inc.

Wood began his newspaper career as an advertising account manager with the Lillie Suburban Newspapers in North St. Paul, Minn. He returned to his native North Dakota in February, 2005 to work in a similar capacity for the Bismarck Tribune.
At the time he accepted the offer to come to Chippewa Falls, Wood served a commercial print manager, target marketing manager, niche publication manager and inside sales special project manager at the Bismarck operation.
He has produced creative advertising concepts, developed marketing plans for advertisers, overseen commercial print sales and actively managed a sales and production staff.
Prior to joining the newspaper industry, Wood owned and operated Accent Delivery Service in Grand Forks, ND, and was retail manager of the Wild Things Gallery in Grand Forks. Wood earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and history from Dickinson State University in Dickinson, ND.
He and his wife, Crystal, have one son, Truman, 4. Wood enjoys hunting and fishing, golfing, biking and spending time with his family.
Wood will be responsible for advertising operations in the Chippewa Falls office of Chippewa Valley Newspapers. CVN produces the Chippewa Herald, a six-day a week newspaper; the Chippewa County Advertiser, a 12,000 circulation TMC product that goes to non-daily households each week; Your Family Shopper-Chippewa (33,300 households) and Your Family Shopper-Eau Claire (37,600 households); Marketplace Homes monthly real estate magazine; Chippewa Valley Business Report; and the area’s premier web site, www.chippewa.com.
Chippewa Valley Newspapers also publishes the Tradin’ Post Buyer’s Guide in Eau Claire, www.witradinpost.com, Dunn County News, Dunn County Shopper, Dunn County Reminder, Dunn Homes magazine, and www.dunnconnect.com. CVN also operates a substantial commercial web printing operation under the name Triangle Press.
