Wisconsin attorney general honors late Chippewa County Deputy

Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen on Friday honored the late Chippewa County Deputy Jason Zunker during the annual Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony held in Madison.
Zunker died in January while diverting traffic from a semi fire on Highway 53 near Bloomer.
“Deputy Zunker lives in his service and sacrifice,” said Van Hollen. “A life and tour just beginning, Deputy Zunker’s life exemplifies the promise of service and life itself. Tragically cut short, Jason will be especially remembered here for the sacrifice and service of a young generation of law enforcement professionals dedicated to a lifetime of service to their neighbors.”
Van Hollen also honored Prescott Police Officer Jackie Ryden and Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Fabiano, Jr., whose names along with Zunker’s were added to the memorial.
“Without laws there is no liberty – without law enforcement there is no law,” said Van Hollen. “We are reminded of men and women chiseled into this memorial who stood for law – and order, and who left us in uniform and on the job. We thank them and we remember.”
