Dawn Garcia joins Sacred Heart Hospital
Dawn Garcia has recently joined Sacred Heart Hospital as director of medical staff and quality.
Formerly of Glen Falls Hospital in New York, Garcia has spent more than 27 years in the health care field, including leadership positions in nursing/patient services, administration and medical staff operations.
In her new role, Garcia oversees the medical staff operations as well as institution improvement.
She holds a master’s degree in nursing administration from State University of New York (SUNY) Institute of Technology in Utica, New York, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
City Pages recognizes Legacy Chocolates
Legacy Chocolates has received “Best Chocolate” Award in the Twin Cities, for the third year in a row, from City Pages Magazine.
In a quote from City Pages, “Like coffee, beer, and cheese, chocolate is something we can consume so often we forget how truly luxurious it can be. You may be tempted to lick the leftover cocoa powder from the wrapper when the (Legacys) chocolates are gone.”
“We’re thrilled and grateful for the acknowledgment that our meticulous attention to quality is apparent” owner Mike Roberts stated.
The grand opening and ribbon cutting for Legacy Chocolates in its new location at 632 South Broadway in Menomonie is May 7. Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton will be on hand for the ribbon-cutting at 4:30 p.m.
Legacy Chocolates’ St Paul location is at 2042 Marshall Avenue.
Ayres Associates names chief financial officer
Richard A. Schoenthaler has accepted the position of chief financial officer for Ayres Associates, an architectural/engineering consulting firm headquartered in Eau Claire.
Schoenthaler will be responsible for providing financial strategic leadership for the company and will oversee all of the financial activities of the corporation. Schoenthaler holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a master’s in business taxation, both from the University of Minnesota.
He has earned Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and Leadership Black Belt Certification, and is a certified public accountant.
For the past five years Schoenthaler served as vice president and chief financial officer for MINNCOR Industries, St. Paul, where he directed control of all aspects of the finance and information technology department.
His other professional experience includes leadership positions with RSM McGladrey & Pullen, Minneapolis, and Ecolab, Inc., St. Paul.
Rehabilitation Services director joins Luther
Suzanne Ryer, a physical therapist, has joined Luther Midelfort. She will serve as the director of Rehabilitation Services, which is composed of physical, occupational and hand therapies and includes inpatient and outpatient care as well as pain management. Ryer also will see physical therapy patients.
Ryer received her physical therapy master’s degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, where she also earned her bachelor’s degree in human biology.
Before joining Luther Midelfort, Ryer was supervisor of Rehabilitation Services and a physical therapist at Aurora Health Care – St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.
“I am looking forward to learning more about the department and providing the best possible rehabilitative care to patients,” Ryer said.
Ryer has special interests in orthopedics, spine rehabilitation and vestibular, or inner ear, disorders that can cause dizziness, vertigo and imbalance.
