Correction

Due to incorrect information listed on Chippewa County’s Website, the wrong polling place in Tuesday’s primary election in Cornell was reported in Saturday’s The Chippewa Herald. Cornell City Clerk-Treasurer David DeJongh said voting will be held in the council chambers at City Hall, 222 Main St.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department responded to the following calls:

Friday, Feb. 8

1:36 p.m. Mule-Hide Manufacturing, 50 Bridge St., Cornell, reported someone stole steeling tubing.

6:08 p.m. Someone was taken into custody for retail theft at Farm & Fleet.

Saturday, Feb. 9

2:54 p.m. Kwik Trip, 2997 Commercial Blvd., reported a gas drive-off.

Sunday, Feb. 10

4:07 a.m. Heckel’s Family Restaurant, 2621 S. Prairieview Road, reported several people left without paying for their food.

6:37 p.m. Kwik Trip, 2997 Commercial Blvd., reported a $16.00 gas drive-off.

7:35 p.m. Steven C. Stanford, 40, was arrested for OWI at Highway 64 and E. 191st Ave. in Cornell.

Friday, Feb. 8

9:43 p.m. Richard D. Sande, 20, was arrested on a probation and parole hold.

Saturday, Feb. 9

9:14 p.m. Bonnie S. Perrenoud, 41 was arrested for resisting arrest and cited for OWI second offense.

9:31 p.m. Casey M. Quigley, 23, was arrested for a probation hold and obstructing after it was reported that he was harassing someone at the James Sheeley House.

Accident

The following accident was reported in the city of Chippewa Falls:

Tuesday, Feb. 5

2:30 p.m. John C. DeGroot, 11727 Highway 178, Chippewa Falls, was driving a 2001 Chrysler minivan eastbound in the alley between Columbia Street and Grand Avenue and was merging onto southbound Bridge Street. He collided with a 1995 Buick Century driven by Hazel H. Witham, 7321 203rd St., who was driving southbound on Bridge Street. DeGroot’s vehicle had severe damage, and Witham’s sustained moderate damage. No injuries were reported. DeGroot was cited for failing to yield the right-of-way from an alleyway.
