The Bowe family, including Kathy, Sara, Brad and Delmar, are named the Special Olympics Family of the Year.

Crystal Olson of the Chippewa Valley Travelers YMCA Gymnastics team won the all-around title in class IV, age nine and under group.

The last horsebarn in Chippewa Falls was torn down with the old Hob Nob tavern on Columbia Street.

Mrs. Conrad Mazur wins the bridge card tournament at the Elks Country Club February Meeting.

Accident

The following accident was reported in the city of Chippewa Falls:

Tuesday, Feb. 5

2:30 p.m. John C. DeGroot, 11727 Highway 178, Chippewa Falls, was driving a 2001 Chrysler minivan eastbound in the alley between Columbia Street and Grand Avenue and was merging onto southbound Bridge Street. He collided with a 1995 Buick Century driven by Hazel H. Witham, 7321 203rd St., who was driving southbound on Bridge Street. DeGroot’s vehicle had severe damage, and Witham’s sustained moderate damage. No injuries were reported. DeGroot was cited for failing to yield the right-of-way from an alleyway.
