A man who allegedly stabbed two others in an altercation at the town of LaFayette trailer park last year will serve 90 days in jail.
Carl J. Bruhn, 42, 18454 County O, was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to two counts of battery and one count of injury by negligent handling of a weapon. One other count of causing injury by negligent handling of a weapon was deferred.
According to the complaint: On July 21, Bruhn approached the trailer park residence of Kenny Walters, 39, 19941 County X #17 and asked if Joy Dekan was there. Bruhn was told that Dekan was there. She was at the kitchen table drinking beer with Kenny and Kevin Walters, with Michael Walters also present. Bruhn reportedly threw something, perhaps a beer can, hitting a window of the trailer.
The Walters group approached Bruhn, an altercation took place, and someone was heard saying, “He has a knife,” according to a witness statement. When law enforcement arrived, Michael Walters was found to have a stab wound, with blood pooling on the ground. Kenny Walters showed an officer an about eight-inch long knife wound under his arm.
Sentence was withheld and Bruhn was placed on probation for 24 months. He is to refrain from using alcohol or illegal drugs and not visit taverns. He was also sentenced to consecutive terms in jail of 60 days and 30 days.
