Edward I. “Papa Ed” Black, 84, of 821 Wilson St., Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls.
Edward was born Sept. 30, 1923 in Barron County to Clarence and Esther (Espeseth) Black.
He married Lucille Christensen in 1948. Then he later married Beverly Meider in 1960. She preceded him in death in 1981. On Aug. 20, 1983 he married Caroline Johnson at Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.
He had worked as a foreman at Falls Dairy for 30 years.
Edward was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where he was an Alder for several years.
He loved fishing and hunting.
He is survived by: his wife, Caroline; two daughters, Kathy (Larry) Olson of Chetek and Laureen Neid of Tomahawk; stepchildren, Ernest and Agnes Hetke of Cornell, David and Jackie Hetke and Dianne Markovich, all of Chippewa Falls, and Mary and Gary Blazer of Florence; one brother, Robert (Eleanor) Black of Blue Island, Ill.; two sisters, Margaret (Gerald “Jack”) Steinmetz of Chippewa Falls and Ruth Hetke of Bloomer; two brothers-in-law, Russell Hoel of Chetek and Ronald Christenson of Chippewa Falls; six grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and 28 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Richard Black; two sisters, Dorothy Wallace and Bernice Hoel; and one step-great-grandson, George Hetke.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Craig Mathews will be officiating. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls and one hour before the time of services Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls.
