Santa still delivered presents to Steve Thaler’s house on Christmas Day, despite being slowed by thieves.
Presents for seven children were taken from the back seat of Thaler’s vehicle parked at Thaler Oil Co., 310 Main St. on Christmas Eve.
The thieves first tried to pry a door open on the vehicle. When that failed, they used a 10-pound barbell to break one of the vehicle’s back windows.
Three porcelain dolls, an acoustic guitar and a toy guitar, a telescope, five children’s bike helmets, three scooters, and miscellaneous hats and gloves were taken.
The theft was reported at 8:40 p.m. “I had about an hour to do my shopping,” Thaler said.
Fortunately, his children still received presents from Santa Claus. And Thaler hopes the stolen presents can be recovered.
“I guess I feel sorry for the people who did it,” Thaler said of the theft.
