Nora G. Nayes

Nora G. Nayes, 85, of 911 Prentice St., Chippewa Falls, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls.
She was born May 4, 1922, in the town of Hay River near Boyceville to Augusta (Halvorson) and Bernhard Anderson. She grew up in the Hay River area of Dunn County and moved to Chippewa Falls where she graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School in 1940.
She had been employed at Krause’s Cafe and the Federal Land Bank Office. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps (WACS) on Sept. 30, 1944, and served during World War II in Fort Des Moines, Iowa; Avon Park, Fla.; and then McDill Air Force Base in Florida. She was honorably discharged on July 27, 1946. She was then employed in the shipping office at Uniroyal until her marriage.
Nora married Roy A. Nayes on May 3, 1947, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. They lived in Chippewa Falls since their marriage.
She was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls for many years.
Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Sechler and Mary Jane (Greg) Erickson, all of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Dagmar Peterlick of Cadott, Ruth Torgerson of Chippewa Falls; one brother, Roy (Rosemary) Anderson of Chippewa Falls; seven grandchildren, Paul Nayes; Rett, Ash, and Casey Sechler; Josh, Jon, and Seth Erickson; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband on Oct. 19, 2007; her son, Forrest “Frosty” Nayes on June 21, 2004; her parents; two sisters, Helene Demulling, Gudrun Berkseth; and one brother, Alf G. Anderson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Roger Benrud officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls with military rites conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
