Judge Roderick Cameron on Tuesday afternoon found there was enough evidence to hold an August 2008 trial for Julie Birtzer, who is accused of the June 13 murder of Ralph Hakes in the town of LaFayette.
Birtzer’s attorney, Harry Hertel of Eau Claire, said Birtzer would plead not guilty.
During Tuesday's preliminary hearing, the prosecution played a tape of a 9-1-1 call and a video tape of Birtzer’s interview with an investigator. On both tapes Birtzer was heard admitting that she shot Hakes in the chest.
