Female perspective focus of celiac support meeting

For the Herald - A celiac support group meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22 at the Luther Midelfort Chippewa Valley education center in Bloomer. Guest speaker is Dr. Rose Danielson, M.D., the only female gastroenterologist in the Eau Claire area.

Danielson is one of five gastroenterologists working at Midelfort Clinic in Eau Claire. She has a special interest in celiac disease and will give the group an update on the diagnosis and treatment. She will also be available to answer questions.

People with celiac disease must avoid foods that contain gluten, the storage form of protein found in wheat, rye and barley. The support group was established to assist those diagnosed with celiac sprue in making the right choices and coping with their new way of life. Anyone with celiac disease is invited to attend the free meetings.

The education center is at Luther Midelfort Chippewa Valley, 1501 Thompson St., Bloomer. This education center is in the former Blue Diamond Clinic on the west end of the Bloomer facility in the A-frame building. Parking is available in the west parking lot and the entrance door will lead you directly to the education center room.
