Joseph S. Nesvacil


Joseph S. Nesvacil, 99, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls. He was a resident of Wissota Health in the town of Eagle Point and formerly from Cadott and the town of Arthur.

Joe was born on Nov. 13, 1907, in Bolivar, Mo. to John and Mary (Sindelar) Nesvacil Sr. At the age of 5 he moved with his family to Irving, Kan. where he attended school. At the age of 18 he moved to Cadott where he farmed in the town of Arthur. In 1990 he moved to Cadott and entered the Wissota Health facility in 2001.

He married Helen Sedivy on April 26, 1939.

Joe was a cowboy at heart and enjoyed having and working with horses. He enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends. He participated in plays with the Bohemian Lodge and liked to sing and dance. He also liked to forecast the weather and share his predictions with others.

He is survived by: two children, Deanne (Chip) Sczepanski of Whitehall and Richard (Ellen) Nesvacil of Cadott; two grandchildren, Gregory (Janice) Nesvacil of Cadott and David (Shannon) Nesvacil of Eau Claire; two great grandchildren, Holly and Brock Nesvacil; three step great grandchildren, Crystal, Corey Jo and Cole Hanson; brother, John Nesvacil of Cadott; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Helen; three sisters, Mary Larson, Anna Roshell and Rose LeTendre; two brothers, Frank and William Nesvacil; and two grandsons in infancy.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic church in Cadott with Fr. Donald Bauer officiating. Burial will be in the Bohemian National cemetery in the town of Arthur.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott.
