Waneta B. Gwiazda, 75, former resident of the Thorp and Stanley area passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home in Chippewa Falls.
Waneta was born March 14, 1932, at home in the town of Taft, Taylor County, the daughter of Cecil and Edna (Kroeplin) Meeker. She grew up north of Stanley and attended Westland school and graduated from Gilman High School.
She was united in marriage to Walter Gwiazda in Medford, on Aug. 2, 1949. They made their home north of Thorp, farming for many years. Waneta was devoted to her family of four children, Cheryle. Irene, Gregory and Duane. She was a wonderful wife and mother who always put her husband and children before herself.
She enjoyed an array of hobbies: needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, cross stitch and writing books about her heritage, but her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She touched so many lives with her love, witt, spunk and sense of humor. During the last three and a half years she resided at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home in Chippewa Falls where she was taken care of so very well.
Waneta is survived by: her four children, Cheryle (Jim) Malecki of Stanley, Irene Przybylski of Stanley, Gregory (Minnette) Gwiazda of Chippewa Falls and Duane (Gloria) Gwiazda of Hudson; grandchildren, Sandy, Jessica, LaShawn, Regina, Nick, Dustin, Eric, Russel, Jeanene, Danielle and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Rose Kotrba, Marvin Meeker, George Meeker, Chet Meeker, Judy Gwiazda and Sharon Lane.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Walter; her parents, Cecil and Edna Meeker; grandson, Corey Malecki; and brother, Lester Meeker.
Waneta will be missed dearly by her friends that were so much a part of her life. She will forever be in our memories and in our hearts.
