The Chippewa Falls City Council will vote Oct. 2 on donating $60,000 to a non-profit group to buy the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds.
In a preliminary vote Tuesday, the council voted 6-0 to write an resolution authorizing the donation.
If approved Oct. 2, the city will donate $30,000 this year and another $30,000 in the first quarter of 2008.
The donation would go to the non-profit Chippewa Foundation, which announced last week it has a deal to buy the fairgrounds from owners Julius “Pinky” Lee and Jim Flanagan for $600,000.
