Marilynn A. Carrier

Marilynn A. Carrier, 57, of 15916 93rd Ave., Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at her home.
She was born Sept. 21, 1949, in Park Falls to Minnie A. (Miller) and Arthur J. Alm. She grew up on the family farm near Winter, Wis. and graduated from Winter High School in 1967. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and graduated in 1971 with a degree in social work.
In June of 1973, Marilynn started working for the Eau Claire Department of Human Services, where she worked for 34 years. She had a variety of jobs. Initially, she did custody studies and later worked as a divorce mediator. When Tri Mediation was formed, she served on the board of directors until just recently. Later, she transferred to the adult unit and worked with the mentally ill, which earned her the honor of “Professional Health Worker of the Year” by the Wisconsin Mental Health Association. Her last few years of work were as an adult intake worker.
Marilynn married Lyndon “Smokey” Carrier on March 17, 1989, in Stillwater, Minn.
Survivors include: her husband; three stepchildren, Becky (Nate) Selmer of Chippewa Falls, Nicole (Kevin) Loomis of Eau Claire and Lucas Carrier of St. Paul, Minn.; one grandson, Justin Mason; her mother, Minnie Alm; two sisters, Audrey Pearson and Arlene Kaehler; and her brother, Wendell Alm; many nieces and nephews, all of the Winter-Hayward area; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her father; and her brother, Jerome Alm.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Our Hope Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Philip Pitt officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
