Special to the Herald - A recent grant will enable the Chippewa Valley Cultural Association at the Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls to focus on an exciting new area of outreach and programming.
The Wisconsin Arts Board (Community Development FY 2008) has awarded the Center funds for a Latino Cultural Outreach Program. The WAB ranked the proposal third in the selection process, and chose it as an example of “best practices — strong applications or parts of applications.”
The grant will be used toward increasing participation of the growing regional Hispanic population as both audiences and performers, and to promote Latino arts and culture with targeted programming.
The money will help to generate public awareness, assess community interest and talent, cover performance fees, technical support and advertising.
Planned programming includes Cuicani — Andean music from South America, and Ballet Folklorico Nacional Mexica — the history, art and cultural of Mexico through dance.
