New Auburn begins Jamboree Days

A parade, several sports and hunts for a medallion and pennies are all part of New Auburn Jamboree Days starting today and continuing through Sunday.
The celebration kicks off at 5:30 p.m. today with a presentation of colors and the introduction of players. That’s followed by a T-ball game at 6 p.m. and a P-ball game at 7 p.m.
There will be a kickball exhibition at 8 p.m. and a teen dance from 8-11 p.m. There’s free admission to the dance.
Here’s a schedule of the rest of the celebration:
n Friday: Community thrift sale, 9 a.m.; softball tournament, 6 p.m.; K&M Concessions’ carnival rides, 6 p.m.; beer garden opens, 6 p.m., “The Contenders” perform, 8 p.m. to midnight (free admission to the performance).
n Saturday: Pancake breakfast sponsored by the New Auburn Athletic Club, 7-10 a.m.; softball tournament, 8 a.m.; volleyball tournament, 9 a.m.; medallion hunt, 9 a.m.; K&M Concessions’ carnival rides, noon; penny hunt, 1 p.m.; music by Jeff Robey, 5 p.m. (free admission); music by “Little Willie and The Twerps,” 8 p.m. (free admission).
n Sunday: Softball tournament, 9 a.m.; volleyball tournament, 9 a.m.; K&M Concessions’ carnival rides, noon; charcoal chicken dinner, noon; Red Cedar Pedal Pullers, noon; firefighter water fights, 2 p.m.
Food stands at the celebration are sponsored by the New Auburn Park Committee, the Seventh Day Ladies Auxiliary and the New Auburn Little League.
