Concert to benefit Chetek food pantry

Special to the Herald - The sixth annual Evening of Acoustic Music benefit concert and silent auction for the Chetek Food Shelf is at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 at Chetek Lutheran Church, 1419 Second St., Chetek. Admission is by one or more nonperishable food or personal hygiene item for the food shelf. A freewill offering will also be taken for the food shelf.

Refreshments will be available during intermission.

Featured performers this year will be two regional acts, Danville and Greg Gilbertson.

Danville, a family folk band from Cadott (www.danvillefolk.com), and an amazing finger-style guitarist from Chippewa Falls, Greg Gilbertson (www.myspace.com/greggilbertson).

“Danville was actually part of the very first EAM concert, and I’m thrilled to have them back,” concert organizer Greg Adams of Chetek said. “Their smooth harmonies and pleasing acoustic arrangements are well known in the Chippewa Valley. I’m also excited to introduce a new crowd to Greg Gilbertson’s mind-blowing guitar work. Gilbertson can hold his own with the likes of Billy McLaughlin and Leo Kottke, and I think people will really enjoy his instrumental wizardry.”

Adams is busy securing donations for the silent auction portion of this special evening of “unplugged” music and fellowship.

All proceeds from the Evening of Acoustic Music benefit the Chetek Food Shelf, which runs very low in the summertime months.

“I’m grateful for the work food shelf director Louise Driver does, and I know that there’s a great need for donations this year,” Adams said. “I’ve been astounded by the community’s generosity in the past and have confidence this year’s concert will continue the tradition of great music for a good cause.”
