Calling College Graduates!

Duane Alan Christiansen

Duane A. Christiansen, 81, peacefully left this world on Tuesday evening, April 24, 2007, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Duane was born on the family farm in the town of Sigel, Cadott, on Oct. 7, 1925, the son of Henry and Ida (Madison) Christiansen.

He attended school in Sigel and Cadott with the class of 1943.

Duane farmed the Pine Knoll Dairy Farm in the town of Sigel all of his life, taking over the farm and family responsibilities at the age of 16, when his father passed on. He diligently cared for his mother until her death in 1961. Uncle Danie was devoted to his sister and three nieces.

He met Marilyn Joan Obbink on April 1, 1961, and they were married on Oct. 21 of the same year in Hersey, Wis. Duane and Marilyn had four children, Brenda Lee (who died in infancy), Wendy, Penny and Gary.

Duane was an avid Packer fan, and it could be said that his mood depended on whether or not the team won that week. In later years, he was a big fan of the Cadott High School girl’s basketball team. Until a stroke eighteen months ago, Duane could be found daily at D.J.’s having his coffee and shooting the breeze. Duane took great pride and pleasure in his seven grandchildren who adored him.

In addition to his parents, Duane was predeceased by: his wife, Marilyn in 1993; and his daughter, Brenda Lee in 1963.

He is survived by: his loving children, Wendy Christiansen and husband David Baker of East Kingston, N.H., Penny Crowley and husband Mike of Andover, Minn. and Gary Christiansen and wife Valerie of Altoona; precious grandchildren, Maren Christiansen, Afton Crowley, Bradley Christiansen, Kolton Baker, Rachel Christiansen, Will Henry Baker, and Jeremy Christiansen. He is also survived by: his sister, Eleanor Ebert and husband Walt; and his three special nieces, Ruth Asercion, Becky Kennedy and Kathy MacLeod.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott with Rev. George Olinske officiating. Interment will follow services at Brooklawn Cemetery Cadott.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27 and also one hour before services on Saturday at the Leiser Funeral Home.

Duane lived a full and good life. He was an anchor and example for his family, and a good friend and neighbor. He will be greatly missed.
