Special to the Herald - Friends and family of Lindsay Blanchette are planning a benefit for her from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at Rick’s Halfway Hall in Cadott.
Lindsay is a 24 year-old Chippewa Falls native currently living in Boyd. She was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2006. She has undergone surgery, radiation and chemo-therapy. Unfortunately, the cancer has spread and Lindsay is undergoing further treatment.
Lindsay grew up in the Chippewa Falls area. She attended elementary school in Jim Falls, graduated from Chi-Hi in 2001 and from UW-Eau Claire in 2005, majoring in communication disorders. She was employed at Group Health in Eau Claire. She also worked at Rainbow Gardens and J&J’s in Cadott where customers were always greeted by her friendly smile and outgoing personality.
Lindsay is the daughter of Jim and Pam (Rank) Blanchette. She has two sisters, Cory Douglas (Pat and niece Hailey) of Rosemount, Minn., and Julie (Matt Flatter) of Holcombe, one brother, Nick (Allisha Smoczyk) of Wausau and a devoted boyfriend, Mike Schuebel. Her two closest companions are her kittens, Maddy and Alley.
The benefit will include live music, raffles, a silent auction and food. Raffle ticket drawings will be held at 5:30 p.m. Ticket holders need not be present to win.
First prize in the first raffle is a Ruger Model 77 — 300 mag. Bold. First prize in the second raffle is two four-day passes to Country or Rock Fest. Also auctioned off will be a 2006 team autographed Green Bay Packer football and autographed NASCAR pictures, 20-inch LCD flat screen television, guns, a canoe trip, and more.
