Several memorial funds have been started in honor of those whose lives were lost in the Oct. 16, 2005 bus crash.
Greenhalgh Love of Band Scholarship
The Chippewa Falls Music Association established a perpetual scholarship fund in memory of the Greenhalgh family. The Greenhalgh Love of Band Scholarship is intended to recognize the overwhelming gift the Greenhalghs gave to the community.
The scholarship is for a band student who shows “love of the band” and is a devoted member and role model in the marching band.
Memorial gifts should be sent to: Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District Foundation, P.O. Box 981, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729.
The CFMA currently rewards excellence through more than 20 scholarships to graduating seniors each year. For more information on the organization, call Sally Holldorf at (715) 726-2406, ext. 1173, or Evelyn Frasch at (715) 723-2530.
Greenhalgh Memorial Music Endowment
Chippewa Falls Marching Cardinal alumni started an endowment fund in Doug Greenhalgh’s memory.
“I cannot say enough how great it was to have a teacher who could teach hard work, dedication, loyalty and music,” says Megan MacLaughlin-Barck from Chippewa Falls.
The fund, which has the blessing of the Greenhalgh family, will be managed by the Community Foundation of Chippewa County. Money from the endowment fund will support the band, and a committee is being organized to decide how the money will be spent each year.
Memorial gifts should be sent to: The Greenhalgh Memorial Music Endowment, The Community Foundation of Chippewa County, P.O. Box 153, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729. For more information on the fund, call 723-8125.
Branden Atherton Memorial Music Scholarship Fund
The Atherton family has established the Branden Atherton Memorial Music Scholarship Fund through the UW-Eau Claire foundation. Proceeds will be used to benefit music students from Chippewa Falls Senior High School and Waukesha West High School.
Memorial gifts should be sent to: UW-Eau Claire Foundation, Schofield Hall 214, 105 Garfield Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54702-4004.
