In addition to the five fatalities, 39 people were injured in the tragic crash of the Chi-Hi band bus with an overturned semi tractor trailer early Sunday morning.
The list released this morning by the state Department of Transportation includes both those transported from the scene to a medical facility and those who reported some sort of minor injury that either did not require treatment or was treated at the scene.
Of the 39 injured, 29 were taken to a medical facility, according to the DOT.
Of those taken to a hospital, six remained hospitalized as of Monday, according to Chippewa Falls Superintendent of Schools Mike Schoch.
Among them are band co-director Brian Collicott, sixth grader Cassie Gast, high school student Jessica McIlquham, and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students Jessica Rozga and Ruth Weiland.
Gast went on the trip to the band competition with her friend, Morgan Greenhalgh, who was one of the fatalities. Both are 11 years old.
Gast was initially taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and is now at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, according to information posted on www.caringbridge.org. Her pelvis is broken in two places and she is expected to be hospitalized for at least three to four weeks.
