WADSWORTH, Ill. - A 24-year-old Wisconsin mother and her 1-year-old son have died in a head-on collision in northern Illinois that authorities believe was alcohol-related.
Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Susan Ewald says Nicole Polk of Algoma, Wis., was traveling southbound on I-94 Friday night near Wadsworth when her car crossed into the northbound lanes, striking another vehicle.

GENEVA, Ill. - Aramis Ramirez had a double in three plate appearances in his first rehabilitation game since going on the disable list May 9 with a dislocated left shoulder.
The Chicago Cubs third baseman also walked and lined out to right field, and scored two runs for the Class A Peoria Chiefs on Friday night.

MILWAUKEE - Tuition would increase about $300 at most of the four-year schools in the University of Wisconsin System and remain unchanged at the system's 13 two-year colleges under a proposal released Friday.
The recommendation put forth by UW System President Kevin Reilly needs approval from the Board of Regents, who are expected to vote on it Thursday when they meet to approve the annual operating budget.

SILVER LAKE, Wis. - Flu cases have forced the temporary shut down of a summer camp operated by the Salvation Army in southeastern Wisconsin, including one confirmed as swine flu, officials said Friday.
Camp Wonderland director John Welch said 190 campers between the ages of 8 and 12 _ many from northern Illinois and northwest Indiana _ were sent home Wednesday after starting a scheduled weeklong visit Monday.

STOUGHTON, Wis. - Five motorcycles in a group driving on Interstate 90 crashed near Stoughton Friday. The Wisconsin State Patrol said five people were injured, one of them critically, in the crash that developed when traffic in front of the cyclists slowed down.
It happened about 10:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the interstate. All lanes were blocked for more than an hour, but traffic got moving again shortly before noon.

MILWAUKEE - The organizer of an August event at the Milwaukee Mile has threatened to pull out because of the racetrack's financial troubles.
Roy Kenseth says he will pull out of a stock-car race he has planned in August if he's not soon paid $88,000. That race is to feature 2003 NASCAR champion and 2009 Daytona 500 winner Matt Kenseth, Roy's son and a native of Cambridge, near Madison.
